I think my brain fell out at some point...

Probably somewhere between the loop-de-loops and the mad spinning. *blinks*
Sis and I finally made the long-awaited journey to Great America. And what does sis do, to show her appreciation of me making the time to get some time off on a weekend and play around for half a day?
We start on that infamous torture machine - the swing ride. *shudder* I had to force myself to breathe. It's not that I hate heights, or that I get dizzy terribly easy, or even that I hate swings... It's that being flung through the air with only a thin bit of chain and a rickety chair does not equal a relaxing ride in my experience. I have never been so glad to get my feet back on the ground.
In revenge, I took sis on "Triple Play", a fun little ride that has nice, solid chairs with nice, solid restraints and does its best to convince the rider that he or she is about to crash into the nearest building. *smirk* That evened the score a bit.
She then decided to up the ante and chose "Grizzly", a monstrous wooden rollercoaster as the next ride. I love wooden coasters on principle, so I didn't argue (other than to gleefully point out that it was rather dampish, and wood does expand when wet). I wonder if the makers of "Grizzly" ever ride on the beast. It well-designed enough, with lots of dips and turns, but it was bouncy enough to make one wonder how many advils one will need to take to take care of the bruising.
Of course, I couldn't let that challenge stand, so I sent us on the "Demon", which is the all-time best coaster in the park. We get on the thing (no lines that early in the morning), she's strapped in, and then she asked with a bit of concern: "This doesn't go upside-down, does it?" *wicked grin* Oh... it doesn't stay upside-down for long, no.... She loved it. How can anyone not love the "Demon"?
We both shuddered at the sight of "Drop Zone" (Sorry, free-fall doesn't appeal) and "Invertigo", and decided that "Psycho Mouse" would fit the bill admirably. Unfortunately we got the back-row seats on a four-person car, so it was a bit tame, but fun. Next was "Centrifuge", where sis swears she wasn't pushing up against me, but all I know is I was alternately comfortable and unable to breathe as said sis was smushed up against me by the G-forces. *grin* Great ride.
We then proved beyond doubt that Sponge-Bob Square-Pants is evil. There's some ride sponge-themed that looked enough like centrifuge that we decided to give it a whirl... our stomachs stayed whirling for quite a bit longer than we did. To cool frazzled nerves a bit we tried the log ride, during which I stayed fairly dry, while sis, who sat in front of me, got mysteriously wet. *looks innocent* We were still a bit whirl-y, so we thought a nice movie-ride type thing would be good bet.
*looks a bit green* Baaaaad idea. It was some race-car themed movie with seats that supposedly moved as the car accelerated, crashed, got fixed, and raced about again... all I know is about half-way through I was concentrating on not losing the lunch I hadn't eaten yet. Gaaaah.
After recovering, we wandered about looking for something reasonably edible (amazing how many food-shops there are, and so little nutritive value...), and we found our hearts' desire - bumper-cars. So of course we paused for a few rounds of that before continuing the food-hunt. I therein proved that I am a much better driver, and I worked off some of the aggression fostered by hour-long drives to school.
After pausing to shudder at "Top Gun", we continued our hunt for food. We finally settled on pizza, since the picture looked so very tasty, and we were beginning to feel very hungry, despite having whirl-y stomachs.
*looks a bit green again* I don't know what they did to that poor pizza, but there was more grease than pizza. *shrugs* It was for settling purposes anyway, and worked. Refreshed and refueled, we went back to our favorites - two more rides on the Demon, another whirl on the Centrifuge, another spin on the Mouse (where we proved to our satisfaction that a)the front-row seats are much better and b)the Counting Crows music video for "Accidentally In Love" is very, very strange and oddly entertaining), and another few bumps on the bumper-cars. We snagged a frozen lemonade, shared a shudder at the general merchandise store, laughed at the picture taken of us when we came into the park, and left.
Fun, no?

I then had the dubious pleasure of teaching three Firsties how to do animal care up at Foothill. Oh, and our new doggies are so adorably cute, though Gracie (a sweet, adorable, nervous nelly of a lab) is going to have to resign herself to being called 'Maggie' by me. Dunno, she looks like a Maggie. Hopefully they don't think I'm an overbearing snit, and I think they'll shape up to be good techs if they ever get their rears in gear. At least I don't have to do animal care alone any more. Or ever again, for that matter. *Joyous grin*

I'm now gonna wander back to my latest M&C book. If Stephen and Jack manage to make it alive out of this one, I'll be amazed. They've had more bad luck...
