Just for the record, I love my job. I really, truly do.
It's the managers and their task lists that are going to kill me.
Today I was yelled at for not doing vaccinations and for doing vaccinations. Thankfully by two different people, or I really might have lost it. Evidently everyone is laboring under the false presumption that we sit around in the hospital drinking martinis all day and don't do a lick of work. I vaccinated over thirty cats today, I think that should get some credit. Never mind giving them all advantage and a very thorough cursory exam. *thwaps stupid people* What gets me is one of the people who was doing the yelling, I know, is a very nice woman when she's not stressed out or whatever was eating her today.
And my co-worker abandoned me! She was helping with the vaccines, then she just left, because obviously her superior skills were needed in the hospital. *cheerfully thwaps coworker* Hello, what part of 'team effort' do you not get? *grrrrr* Nearly cried. Thought I was never going to get to go home. Luckily Robert (who seriously, seriously rocks, by the by) wandered in and rescued me before I gave in and commited hari-kari with a 25GA needle.
Oh, and joy of all joys, I work in Spay/Neuter tomorrow. It is mind-numbingly dull, except for brief moments of sheer terror while prepping animals in an obviously inept manner, if the vet's glare is any indication. Bother, bother, bother. Maybe they'll pull me to go give vaccines. Joy.
Robert rocks. He can be crude to the point of insulting, but he rescues his co-workers/underlings and stays cheerful and upbeat even when boss-lady is giving it to him with both barrels. I am so glad we hired him and not the other applicants.
Once, just once, I'd like someone in power to see what our medical staff does and say, honestly, "Hey, good job guys, we really appreciate it". Every time they call a meeting, it's to tell us what horrible slackers we are, and how we need to pick up the pace. Just... gaaaaaah!
