1) Hearing 'God Save the Queen' with words in is very odd. I keep singing the wrong words. Thanks so much, long-dead unimaginative song writers.

2) Um. Guys? The London presentation at the closing ceremonies?

Um.

That was... strange.

*thinks Queen's guitarist should have been there, not Led Zepplin*

There was much flailing about "OMG THEY BROUGHT A FRICKING BUS!!!" over here, yup.

a) Peninsula Humane Society was a good shelter to visit. One of the gals from the class above mine works there now, and we actually got to do things.

It's just too bad there were five hours of driving involved.

b) *eyes tv* Bagelfuls - frozen bagels with cream cheese in you can heat in the microwave. Is there something wrong with getting a real bagel (don't talk to me about Sara Lee, you heretics) and some cream cheese and... taking the five minutes to fix that instead?

c) So I got home, too late for board reviews (3 hours to get home whut), and was about to make dinner and do... not much of anything.

Then decided to not be a lazy ass and go for a walk.

Much better plan.

d) Home. Tomorrow. After this 'field trip' to Oakland. I hope there won't be too much of a fight if I refuse flat-out to ride in Dr. H's deathtrap of a car.

e) YAY BEACH VOLLEYBALL IS OVER. CAN WE SEE SOMETHING ELSE NOW?

I do not like how this rotation is leaving me cranky and tired, with very little to show for it.

*SIGH*

But, in other news:

a) Found a used book store and got a bunch of books for cheep :D (Including 'Castle in the Air' which is freaking adorable and a Peter Wimsey mystery that I haven't read yet yay).

b) Finally got my test file from my big sib. Yay.

c) Found out the first board review is tomorrow from 6-8pm. Hopefully we'll be back from the shelter by then. Whee. *cries*

d) Am supremely jealous and envious and all those words of the Olympic runners. They are cheetahs and gazelles to my penguin. Someday. Someday. I'll never be that fast, but maybe I can move up to somewhat adorable mutt.

e) Ticks are gross. Also? Gross. Bleeeeh.

f) Annnnnd that's all I got.

g) Oh, wait. I've found Bella whatshisface the ex-gymnastics coach is much more tolerable when he doesn't have little girls to make cry. He's still impossible to understand, but he doesn't inspire the same level of 'omg hate your guts' that he has previously.

h) Favorite race win thus far (discounting all Phelps wins 'cause those were just made of utter awesome): The runner from Beirut winning her heat despite being forced to run in a full body suit while her competitors ran in bikinis, basically. And the runner from Romania winning the marathon, after having lead for a good half of it because the pack didn't believe someone could take off that soon. Kee-kass, gals.

i) And I just heard a woman runner being compared on equal footing with male runners. Rock on. :D

j) And I kind of love the Budweiser ad with the dog and the Clydesdale. It's silly and ridiculous and so freaking cute. *sigh* I'm such a sucker. :D

So, latest minor!crisis on the horizon: The driver's side window on Bessie the Car is performing at the same level of malfunction as the passenger side window. In that when I lowered the window to give money to the toll guy as I drove back up to Davis, the window refused to go back up in a normal position. I had to pull off at the next exit (after going over the Benicia bridge with my window down, so much unfun) and push said window back into submission. Of course, I'd been reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series all day, so sitting at a deserted stop sign in the middle of freaking no where wasn't much fun either.

Window is now back in place, but you better believe it's not going back down until someone who knows a whole hell of a lot more about cars than I do (which is roughly 90% of the US population) has a look at Bessie and possibly beats her into submission.

So I watched the Knight Rider movie again, because what one needs to fix a bad drive is a movie about a supercar, yup. And by KR movie, I mean the 2008 one, not the earlier one of horrificness where they freaking killed Devon and took KITT out of his cool TransAm. Mrr.

Second week of the shelter med rotation starts tomorrow, with a day spent with the resident answering already answered questions again. And rounds. This means I'll probably be online all day. I'll probably take another stab at that fic prompts list, but if anyone wants to give me more, they're totally welcome. :D Anyway, I'll be at ARF in Walnut Creek on Tuesday and Wednesday, the SPCA in SacTown on Thursday, and taking a field trip with the whole crew to Oakland on Friday. Oh, we're supposed to get a second student on the service tomorrow, so that ought to be interesting. Or something? La.

Saw some Equestrian eventing today (Olympics) and: EEEE PRETTY PRETTY HORSES. Also, much flailing at that last horse the Americans were riding. Silly pony, go over the jumps!

But mostly pretty pretty ponies EEEEE!

Oh, Sis and I caught 'Runaway Bride' on BBCA and... um. What is with the really really bad editing? They cut out a good chunk of important dialogue - Donna re: Rose trusting the Doctor in the car chase, Donna getting the Doctor to stop under the Thames... and there was another, but I can't remember it just now. But... important scenes! Also, there needs to be fic reconciling how they wrote Donna in 'Runaway Bride' with how she is in the rest of the series.
Oh! They cut out the scene where she refuses to go with him! WHUT?
Though, I am glad they added Grandpa when she rejoined the show. Grandpa is made of awesome, and was missed in 'Runaway Bride'. Must write fic to explain why he wasn't there.

Annnd I should be in bed. *flees*

So, it's Friday. What does this mean?

It means I can afford to stay up late enough to see Phelps race.

:D

Poor Phelps' mom, she looked like she was going to have a heart attack after.

Also, I've learned that all the outside shots of the opening ceremonies were photoshopped. *cracks up entirely* Oh, China. There comes a point when trying to be perfect goes over into 'being silly'.

Also also, done with Yolo shelter. Next week I go to ARF in Walnut Creek, SPCA in Sacramento, and a couple shelters in Oakland.

It's 11pm.

I'm dead tired.

There's only ONE swimming race left tonight.

The one with Phelps in.

So what does NBC do?

SWITCH TO FREAKING GYMNASTICS.

Which, you know, I'd also like to see, but I'm not going to stay up for a whole new sport.

Thanks ever so much, NBC. Because that beach volleyball game and the synchronized diving was SO THRILLING. In the way it wasn't. At all.

In other news, I spayed one cat, neutered two normal cats, and went hunting for a rogue testicle in a cryptorchid cat. All of this almost makes up for the 11.5 hour day.

EDIT: They must be reading my journal now, because after the commercial break, as I was about to turn off the TV, back came Phelps. It was a semifinal, but it was fun anyway.

Dear NBC: Yes. Like that. Only, say, an hour or two earlier.

Most of the things I want to see in the Olympics (Phelps swimming, mens gymnastics, womens gymnastics, among others) are on between 10pm and midnight.

You know, after when I need to be in bed if I'm going to be anywhere at 7am.

This makes me sad. I mean, yes, I can see replays later, but I'd already know who won, and the whole anticipation thing is gone.

*SULKS AT NBC*

Seriously NBC. Beach Volleyball every night between 8 and 10? When they aren't even medal games? Lose.

In other news, was a ride-along with an animal control officer all today. It was all very Animal Cops: Woodland.

OMG.

OMG.

Okay, first, men's relay 100x4 Swimming. DUDES YOU ROCK. SUCH an AWESOME race.

Also, the thing I was OMGing about in the first place before the relay started:

I GOT AN 'OUTSTANDING' ranking in Rad Onc! THE SCORE WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO EVER GET 'CAUSE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE. BWAH.

I need a 'glee' icon.
