Jan. 22nd, 2009 05:40 pmSo, today we necropsied a horse.
So we come in, and there's this huge Belgian Warmblood on the floor. There's a gal interested in equine medicine, so she got first dibs with the knife - I went to help out with a cat necropsy. But I look over a quarter hour later, and it's like the horse was exploded. Bits of horse everywhere. It only got worse when I had to go over to that side of the lab for more tissue tags, because they'd cut open the GI tract and OMG THE SMELL. The gal with the knife was covered in horse blood. I helped clean up (because a cat will almost always take a shorter amount of time than a horse), and water sprays unpredictably off of some of the instruments and there were moments of 'OMG EW HORSE GUTS AND THINGS ON ME EW'. Yes, I took a shower immediately upon coming home. You know it's major clean-up time when you're driving home and you realize your mouth tastes like death. *gags*
We came within inches of necropsing an elephant (no, for serious), but the faculty guy nixed that idea due to 1) our winch being broken, thus making it v.v.v. hard to move the elephant on to the path floor, and 2) elephants have a high rate of TB. So. No.
In other news, I did circuit training with weights for half an hour this morning, despite the hatred coming from my calves. They were unhappy campers this morning. And my housemate is alternately telling me I should go to the gym with her and her friend (even though I and gyms tend to be a counterproductive mixture) and offering pizza and dessert. *facepalm*
