Jan. 28th, 2009 11:51 amThe rest of yesterday was oddly fun - I did a necropsy on a horse (with a foal, waugh), which basically meant I got to wield the big knives a lot and get a good workout. Though there was one moment...
I was frantically cutting up horse guts because they tend to deteriorate pretty quickly once they're out of the horse, and the horse was hoisted up on the chains from the ceiling to be out of the way, and I wasn't really paying attention to where the horse was... until I felt something warm on my head. I reach up my (relatively clean) glove, and my hand comes back bloody. Horse blood. Dripping on my head. A whole world of ew, right there.
But someone put on a CD of 80's rock anthems and stupid love songs (Total Eclipse of the Heart FTW) and the five of us, totally giddy about passing Nationals, rocked out while cutting up dead animals.
Yes, vet school can be deeply, deeply weird.
Today, thus far, we only have two critters, so maybe I'll get home before dark today?
