Evidently San Francisco is being overrun with Chihuahuas.

*bites lip to keep from giggling*

Um. Anyway, like the article says - it's not just big bruiser dogs (though big bruiser dogs need lots of love too!) at the shelter. From an ex-shelter tech, if you're ever thinking of adopting a dog... think about getting a shelter pup. I will stay from my (NEARLY SIX MONTHS WTF) work experience that shelter pups tend to be healthier than store bought or breeder-bought pups. Shelter pups usually have at least a set of vaccines in them and a dose of dewormer (at a good shelter - just like breeders, they're not all created equal). The last store-bought pup I treated had two different organisms growing in his little ears and three types of worms in his little belly. This is, of course, not saying that all breeders are awful - I've had a couple actually bring both parent dogs in for exams prior to breeding, bring the female in every couple weeks to make sure she's still okay and get details on feeding/vaccines/deworming/what have you, bring in the whole litter at 3-4 weeks old to get them all checked out, and if they still have them when all of their first vaccines are due, they bring the whole pile in for shots. Those people? Dedicated, awesome, and truly love their breed of choice. The ones that make me growl are the ones who think, somehow, this is going to get them a quick buck. Those are the ones I get in my doors with a ton of worms, undersocialized, inbred... and thinking about it, out of the... what, twenty-ish parvo cases I've had in five months (dude, that's averaging once a week. It's a HORRIBLE disease. This shouldn't be the reality, yo, THERE IS A VACCINE WTF) *cough* Um. Where was I? Right, in all those cases? None of them were shelter pups. All of them were breeder/got from a friend/got from a neighbor/got from fricking Santa Claus.

Mrgh.

Anyway. I think my immune system is scared of theraflu. I had two doses last night (and zonked out cold), and felt considerably more alive today (as evidenced by the short comment turned rant above oops). My partner in crime is gone for the next two weeks, leaving me alone at the helm (except for some much-welcomed help from the other two hospitals in the area on my scheduled 'weekends')

OMFG *howls* I just saw an ad on the TV (old show, I'm finally watching the Amazing Race finale) and there's an ad for the perfect gift for 'the special woman in your life' - a pap smear.

I just... YOU KNOW that some poor idiot got this for his mom or something. BWAAAAAAH omg the dramas. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

Aaaaaaand... that's all I have.

Except Raurence we really really really do have to do Amazing Race if they have challenges at Cirque du Soleil. No really. Except we can't throw tantrums there. There's no crying in Cirque. *eyes contestant*
