Stop laughing at me people who live in cold places. This is California, in the Central Valley, where it does not get this cold.

I think perhaps a huge asteroid hit the earth while nobody was looking, and rotated the earth slightly, so that Michigan is now closer to the equator, and California is near the south pole...
