Is it justifiable to thump your clinician over the head if he says he'll meet you to finalize overnight plans for your new patient at 7pm, and you bust your ass trying to get treatments for two other animals done by then (thus nixing the hope of any nap time), and when you run over to dialysis to beg the techs there to tell said clinician, when he shows up, that you're going to be late... they tell you that he told them 7:30? And he still isn't here, now that it is past 7:30?

And then, when I was swinging by ICU in hopes of finding the missing clinician, I saw a dog in an oxygen cage that looked JUST LIKE Fozzie-dog, and there was a moment of OMG WAUGH! going on. It isn't Fozzie dog. But it's a remarkable likeness.

Here, dragons are more fun:

Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

*grumps* At 8pm I'm so paging his 1st year resident ass.

EDIT: Why writing records when tired is bad: You say things like 'Bloody typing/cross match: Type B, no agglutination with donor'

The sexy life of a veterinarian:

Cut for those who want to continue to eat their breakfast/lunch/dinner/whatever )

*facepalm* Also? It's starting to rain. Yes, I realize it's the end of October and about time, and eventually it will go East and make snow in Tahoe which would be awesome for Thanksgiving (though I was kinda hoping for some hiking 'cause AM NOT STUDYING MY VACATION THIS YEAR THANKS SO MUCH), but still.

*slurps coffee, and is amused at appropriateness of icon*

Now, I'm not allowed to give details, due to privacy and so on and so forth and lalala...

But seriously. There is one owner who, if he or she is ever so stupid is to walk into the Medicine meeting room, will probably be beat on by seven disgusted and irate students. This animal needed to die... like... months ago. Seriously.

*snarls*

Some people are seriously rat bastards who shouldn't be near animals EVER.

On the other hand, there's my client from today who broght her OMGFREAKINGCUTE puppy in, openly admitting she's paranoid about her puppy's health. :D No problem, ma'am. None at all.

(No, seriously, OMGFREAKINGCUTE. I may have to take a picture, and kill the internets with a cuteness overload)

Just two more days with Medicine (four more, if we count the weekend). Still, it's almost over for a few months.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Adopt one today!
bodldops: (cute kitten)
Mostly made my goal of no stupid mistakes. So. Win?

They're still making Grand Rounds noises at me. *sigh* Guess I know what I'm working on this weekend. Mrr. I am so not a fan of public speaking. On so many levels.

Anyway.

Oh, I got an e-mail the other day with pictures of Fozzie dog! He looks so happy. :D

Bebe dragons! I haven't named them yet because we don't get to know the gender until they're all grown up.
Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

And. Um. Egg makes three? >.>
Adopt one today!
bodldops: (Default)
Goal for today:

Only making somewhat reasonable mistakes.

Toooootally given up on a mistake-free day. It so isn't happening.

Also, Dr. B is stalking me. I go on her service on Monday. *fears, mildly* She's sweet. She's really really sweet. Really.

Also? I think I may be presenting in Grand Rounds next week. Maybe. If Dr. B says I can go. >.> Wheeee.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today!
bodldops: (cute kitten)
I HAS NO INPATIENTS.

This is so made of win. I might sleep all of Saturday.

In other news:

Adopt one today!Adopt one today!

No, I have no idea why there's two now. At all. Nope. >.>

IT CAME WITH FLOWERS DON'T JUDGE ME.

Anyway, things I'd like to get done this weekend:
1) CLEAN ROOM OMG
2) Laundry
3) Cook something real, in the way that frozen food is rapidly losing it's appeal, though it's working out as being cheaper...
4) Walk to Borders and back. And get a book. :D Or at least ear-mark a book for buying in a month after boards. Most likely the second option.
5) Speaking of which: Studying for boards (though Medicine has been a fantastic refresher course)
6) Maybe find a new icon. I only seem to be using two, out of... what. Five?
7) Clean other places.
8) Sweep up outside/water everything

In other news, I only have one more week of Medicine. Dr. B already corralled me out in the hall and told me when to report to her service after Medicine. Dr. B is sweet. Just. Um. Yeah. Anyway...

I think I'm going to miss Medicine. I mean, it's brutally long hours, and sometimes the cases are horrible and sad (two renal dysplasia cases in the last three weeks. Those are FREAKING TRAGIC), but it's interesting work. And this is just going to make me sound masochistic, but I think I liked Medicine even more when there were fewer students on. I... kind of miss having three cases a day and racing around the hospital and... all of it. Now I get one case and I'm kind of wishing I'd signed up as a primary on the weekend pickups.

*facepalms* I'm hopeless.
bodldops: (cute kitten)
So, I am a sheep.

Exhibit A:
Adopt one today!

It's not the most pretty egg ever, but I have Great Hopes for it. Srsly.

In other news, I actually got a surprised sort of good job on one of my answers in rounds today. Knowing the topic ahead of time and researching pays off. Occasionally.

In other, other news, at the risk of sounding deeply masochistic, I think Medicine was better with fewer students on. I dunno. It is nice not having an inpatient though, just for the 'I can wake up at 630 rather than start my treatments at that time' factor.
bodldops: (cute kitten)
Fenway has left the hospital (with her mom, who showed up in appropriate team colors, and baseball cap).

And I am sad. She was a freaking adorable sweetiepie of a dog, and it was nice cuddling with her (at ungodly hours both early and late).

But then I remember I will probably get to go home tonight before 6pm, and don't have to be here tomorrow until 8:15am.

And then I'm happy.
bodldops: (cute kitten)
So, I have an inpatient, 'cause I was on on-call for pickups this morning.

Raise your hand if you're surprised.

*sigh*
bodldops: (cute kitten)
I don't have an in-patient this morning, so I got to sleep in ridiculously late. If this were yesterday, I'd already be neck-deep in appointments and treatments and dear God do I have time to run downstairs for a soda 'cause there's still seven hours left yipes!

But that does not mean today can't be productive! Today I mean to finish all of the projects that haven't been finished for a while. Yay!

To Do Today
Sweep up backyard/water plants front and back
Clean dishes/clean kitchen
Clean bathrooms
Finish laundry
Clean room
Vacuum
Clean floors
Clean litterboxes
Finish record
Shop for food-type things
Get movie (though, we have Harvey, but roommate has never seen Man of LaMancha or the original Doctor Doolittle and as a future veterinarian this is tragic)
Ignore the people looking at the place next door, especially when their little kids come smack dab up to the windows to try and look at the kitties.

... *facepalm* I just realized I don't think I took the cage apart for my day-case yesterday. I'd... better go do that at some point today. Oops? I mean, there's no rush, 'cause the people who'd clean out the cage come in at night, so I can just do it this afternoon, but... *sigh* Winnar is me. Oh well. Minor.
bodldops: (cute kitten)
In other news: Things that are not fun include realizing fuzzily while attempting to feed pills to a somewhat snappy Corgi that no, we aren't having an earthquake, that's just your low blood sugar talking, and oh by the way you only have twenty minutes until rounds so you'd better hurry if you want food and coffee before said rounds so you don't pass out at Dr. M.

RULES:
• Pick your birth month.
Strike out anything that doesn't apply to you.
Bold the five-ten that best apply to you.
Italicize those that sometimes apply.
• Copy to your own journal, with all twelve months under a lj-cut.
• Tag 5 people from your friends list.

I tag: Um. I'll get to that when I can look up spellings of people's journals. Until then, consider yourself tagged. Yes, you. You right there. Don't scrunch down in your seat, I can still see you.

JUNE: Thinks far with vision. Easily influenced by kindness. Polite and soft-spoken. Having ideas. Sensitive. Active mind. (Only when not in rounds, whee.) Hesitating, tends to delay. Choosy and always wants the best. (Sometimes there's nothing wrong with Hersheys) Temperamental. Funny and humorous. Loves to joke. Good debating skills. (Crap debating skills, rather) Talkative. Daydreamer. Friendly. Knows how to make friends. (Can I strike out multiple times?) Able to show character. Easily hurt. Prone to getting colds. Loves to dress up. (Again, with the multiple strikeouts?) Easily bored. Fussy. Seldom shows emotions. Takes time to recover when hurt. Brand conscious. Executive. Stubborn.

Yesterday was a bit nuts - couldn't find my glasses, so I went to school in my spares, so much fun. Then, after rounds, I basically didn't sit down until evening rounds started. And still didn't get everything done. Mondays are kind of evil on Internal Medicine.

And then my watch died. LA.

Also, this keyboard does not have a functioning shift key. This severely limits my blogging, I am noticing.

Aaaaanyway, it's procedures today, and I dodged the pickups so far, and I don't have any new appointments, so. ... Can't use exclamation points argh. Pretend there's an enthusiastic yay there.

And now I go get my patient prepped for a bronchoscopy.
bodldops: (cute kitten)
You know what I has?

Dinner from the Buckhorn (tritip steak sandwich with caramelized onions, and cole slaw, and watermelon).

You know what else I has?

A hat. It is a new hat. A UCD Vet School hat. And it's comfy.

You know what I don't has?

An inpatient this weekend.

Friday: Win.

Yesterday killed me dead. I had a slowish morning, and then practically never sat down between noon and 8pm. And my shoulder still hurt. Also, there is, evidently, no such thing as a shoulder support thingy other than a sling or a ginormous Ace bandage. Fun times.
At least my shoulder doesn't hurt so bad today? Haven't even taken Advil yet, but I might later.

In other news, watched Knight Rider last night (despite still not having seen episode 2.
You're doing it wrong )

In other, other news, signs look like I'll be able to go home before 8pm tonight. How awesome is this?
bodldops: (Sarah Jane Smith)
Popped my shoulder out while restraining a v.v.v.v. energetic dog this morning. It's fine, no weakness or anything, and it went right back in, but dayum it hurts, even with lovely NSAIDs on board.

*grumps*
bodldops: (Default)
First day on Internal Medicine.

*flails. a lot*

In other news, the hike yesterday was lovely. Pictures to follow.

Did I mention Internal Medicine? *fears*
bodldops: (Default)
Dear In-patient Of Mine:
I really don't like you. I don't. I'm still going to do the best I can for you, as evidenced by how I almost force-fed you an entire can of A/D by making little meatballs and stuffing them in your massive maw, but I don't like you.
Please go home tomorrow.
No love,
Me
PS: Don't you dare bloat. Seriously.

Dear Classmate Of Mine:
Bite. Me.
No, your jokes about my weight seriously weren't funny. Yes, I know you're one of the beautiful people, and I'll never be one of the beautiful people, but you suck so freaking hard.
No love (at all),
Me.

Dear Owners of In-Patient of Mine:
... For your sakes, I really do hope this dog gets better. It's going to devastate you when she's gone, won't it?
Sadly,
Me.

Dear Certain Faculty Person:
You? Also aren't funny.
Exasperatedly,
Me.

Dear Roommate and Roommate's Friend:
You guys are made of win. And the spaghetti is fabulous, darlings.
Giddy from exhaustion,
Me.
bodldops: (Default)
Dear NBC:

I really do want to support your restart of the Knight Rider series.

But in order to do this?

You really do need to air the episodes with sound.

Will watch this one online on your player, but since your player is kinda crap, don't expect that to last too long unless the writing improves dramatically.

Love, tentatively, Me.

In other news, I have a ginormous dog as an inpatient. Plzplzplz do not become nonambulatory. Plz.
bodldops: (cute kitten)
In shocking news of the weekend: I didn't get called in on my on-call emergency shift. Didn't even do any phone pickups. O.O Though, it looks like they got some cool cases. La.

*is crazy, yes*

Anyway, off to buy supplies and plants. Supplies 'cause I'm low on foodstuffs, plants because it's starting to get cool enough that things shouldn't flashfry if I put them in the backyard.

*skitters off*
