Introducing a new character: Hotlips, one of my male classmates, so named to preserve the gender balance.
Scene: Holding down the CRAZIEST DOG OF EVER while Trapper goes to find more needles.
Frank: *put upon sigh* You know Hotlips?
Me: ... Yes? *looks across lab room to where Hotlips is talking to his labmates - some sort of animated story that's either about downhill mountain biking or skiing, seeing as it involves a slope and a lot of twisting around*
Frank: He's an [word that one does not apply to one's professional coworkers in a professional setting].
Me: ... Whut?
Frank: Normally I wouldn't say that...
Me: *thinking: Yah HUH.*
Frank: But at this hour of the morning? [Repeated word].
...
Hotlips, while tragically very much taken, has always been nice to me, even though I'm not part of the group he generally hangs out with.
And I repeat. I am WORKING WITH TODDLERS HERE. Grey's Anatomy is right, this sort of thing is just High School, with scalpels.
