First, to get me in the posting spririt, a meme yoinked from forceofhobbit.

LAYER ONE:
-- Name: Bodldops. No, I'm not giving you my real name.
-- Birthdate: June 7th
-- Birthplace: Bay Area, California
-- Current Location: Bay Area, California
-- Eye Color: Hazel
-- Hair Color: I say brown. I was recently told (and quite emphatically) that I am most definitely a 'dirty blonde'. I resent this.
-- Height: 5'3"
-- Righty or Lefty: Righty. I can scrawl with my left, but... it isn't legible.

LAYER TWO:
-- Your heritage: Well, I know there's some Italian... probably some Saxon... odds are I've got some Irish and Scottish in there somewhere... I live in the family that does their darndest to forget their ancestors. *headdesk*
-- Your weakness: A purring kitten, a good piece of chocolate, a purring kitten, a guy who can fence, a purring kitten...
-- Your fears: Being forgotten.
-- Your perfect pizza: I'm a carnivore, I'll admit it. Pile the meat on, baby! *sigh* That pizza is so not healthy, it isn't even funny... which means I haven't had one like that for at least four years.
-- Goal you'd like to achieve: Become the very best person I can be.

LAYER THREE:
-- Your most overused phrase(s) on AIM: *poke* and O.O
-- Your thoughts first waking up: Oh. Dear. Lord. HowdoIresetthisthing?
-- Your best physical feature: I like my eyes.
-- Your bedtime: Whenever I pass out from too much studying/roleplaying.
-- Your most missed memory: Huh? If I missed it, how would I know it was gone? *looks confused*

LAYER FOUR:
-- Pepsi or Coke: Coke. Dunno why.
-- McDonald's or Burger King: *gags* What, for food poisoning, or for caloric intake?
-- Single or group dates: I'll tell you when I go on one.
-- Adidas or Nike: I'm a New Balance sort of gal, m'self.
-- Lipton Ice Tea or Nestea: *gags again* Those aren't teas, they're... artificial flavors in baggies.
-- Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate. Yum.
-- Cappuccino or coffee: *stares* Erm... Basically the same thing, just one's foamy... now, if we had a choice like a mocha or a coffee, then we could have a conversation about that.

LAYER FIVE:
-- Smoke: No, unless it's coming out my ears from an overheated brain.
-- Cuss: I've been known to, yeah.
-- Sing: I'm a car-radio karioke freak.
-- Take a shower every day: Most days, yeah.

-- Do you think you've been in love: No.
-- Want to go to college: Did so. Am doing so. Want to go back to Davis.
-- Like high school: Yeah, being homeschooled in high school rocks.
-- Want to get married: Yeah, someday.
-- Believe in yourself: I'm real, are you real?
-- Get motion sickness: Geh, yes. But only if I'm reading in the car, or if we're driving on a really twisty road. Or if I'm on some boats. Not all boats, just some of them.
-- Think you're attractive: Eh, not so much.
-- Think you're a health freak: If eating fairly correctly and exercising at least five out of seven days means I'm a freak, then yes.

In a guy/girl . . .
-- Best eye color: The one he has.
-- Best hair color: Ditto. Though lately I've been partial to dark hair.

-- Number of scars on my body: Got a really big one...
-- Number of things in my past that I regret: I've lost count.

Watched the debates today. Gah, don't know who to vote for now. So I'm going to lay it out, even though y'all don't care.

Kerry Pro:
He's not Bush!
His VP doesn't look like he's about to keel over.
He wants out of this war in Iraq.
He isn't currently vilified by people in other countries.

Kerry Con:
He wants a government-run health care system.
He voted for the Iraq war, and now claims he'd never vote for it.
He's never in the Senate.
He's never written a piece of legislation.
He evidently feels that taxing someone 60% of their paycheck is okay.
He wants a 'coalition of nations' and would stick with them, but says he'd never trust a foreign nation with our safety. Huh?
Dances around issues like he's at a ball.

Bush Pro:
Has a strong education stance.
Has a strong anti-illegal alien stance.
Has a decent tax plan.
Good sense of humor.

Bush Con:
Can be such a friggin idiot.
Has a VP that looks like he's going to keel over.
Has mucked up this war. Now, when this war started, we all thought Sadam had WMDs in there. That's what he was trying to do. He hoped to scare the US off by his blustering, 'cause he thought that's why we left him alone last time. He just picked the wrong country to bluster - we weren't exactly calm. Of course, there were no WMDs, but just imagine if Sadam had stayed in power. Eventually, he would have died... and his sons would have been in power. *shudder* Hoooooooowerver. Bush really needs to get his act together and get us out of that country, leaving Iraq stable and self-sufficient. And preferably not taken over by the first warlord to raise his head.

Let me help:
1. Bush has a horrible education stance. He's using his brother Jeb's mess in FL as a model for the rest of the country and you can see just a bit of what that's lead to here: http://tinyurl.com/4ohun
I not only have kids in public schools but I'm employed by our local district. I've been involved in one way or another for 10 years. I've witnessed, since Jeb arrived on scene a systematic destruction of the Public Education system.

2. He doesn't know where he stands on illegal aliens. Actually for a while there he was for amnesty. Then he was for giving them driver's licenses. Once you get one of them, you can get anything. You're in for good.

3. His tax plan is what? As a former member of the middle class, now living officially under the poverty line, I respectfully disagree.

4. I'm not sure about his sense of humor, but I'll agree he's probably a very nice man. Can't run a country on a sense of humor.

As a bumpersticker I have says, my plumber is a man of God, but that doesn't make him a good leader. I'm a woman of God but not good at leading anything beyond small groups, and even then, I do best when I get direction from someone else.

Shrub can trumpet whatever rhetoric he wants about more aid for students, but being one of those students, I'm in total agreement with Kerry's rebuttal to that: there isn't more aid per student, just more students that qualify because they and/or their families are broke.

My dad's been out of work for months. My mom just lost her job and God only knows when she'll find another. My dad's paycheck has always sucked and wherever my mom works, her check will suck, too. We need a higher minimum wage to keep up with the cost of living.

I think it's Shrub who's responsible for killing the legalization of importing drugs from Canada, and I know he hasn't done jack diddly towards supporting the lowering of drug prices. He has recto-cranial inversion. Drug prices need to come down in the States. *One* medication I need is $400/month for me. I don't have insurance and I have too much income to qualify for Medicaid. When I tried to apply about two years ago, you had to be making less than $436/month to qualify. I have more than that coming in each month, but after the bills get done eating up the money, I don't have much left over. I can't afford medication on my own. My shrink keeps me supplied with samples so I haven't had to buy medication in months, which is great. This summer, I went to Canada to fill two scripts so I'd have Officially Labeled Bottles should Customs look through my bags to/from the UK. I spent $200-300 for both. In the States, it wouldn't surprise me if the cost would be triple that, and probably more. Something has to be done.

I didn't take Bush's saying the vaccines from England being tainted as a slam against the Brits. His saying we were going to import from Canada seemed good sense. If the company in Canada wants to sell to the United States, that's their perogative under capitolism (unless the company's owned by the government, but then it's the Canadian gov't that deserves the lynching for selling to the States). It would be good PR for them to only send vaccines to Canadian sources, but that's not economically sound and the company does want to turn a profit to keep the shareholders happy, give the men in suits raises to buy a new Jag, and other such things that are done with profits. Also, the States doesn't have a production facility for flu vaccines. We have no choice but to import. Our original source isn't an option any more, so we have to turn to Canada to get vaccines. The situation sucks all around.

I find it pathetically laughable he'd actually say that drugs from Canada might be suspect in quality. First, Canada isn't a third-world country. They have standards. Second, and this is the kicker, they get their drugs from the same bloody companies we get them from in the States. I truly do not think that drug companies are going to be giving Canada crap drugs. Mexico, maybe. Nations in Africa, maybe. But not Canada.

Oh, and please look up Kerry's record in the senate and don't go by what the spin doctors are saying. He most certainly has written, and passed legislation (and to do that you have to be present). No one ever said 60% of anything, and he has said repeatedly that he'd vote for the war again but make sure we weren't alone in fighting it.

My 60% is from the old tax on the 'rich'. The higher brackets were getting as much as 60% of their paycheck taken away by taxes. At least, that was the latest info I have, and since it was internet info, I can't swear to it 100%, but I know that it was horrendously high. I dont' care that they already have money - if you earn that sort of paycheck, you should be able to keep a decent percentage.

I say, go by the integrity of the men. (*snickers* three words my mom left me with...but it was only one word repeated three times...I'll stop MSTing now.)

Bush: Is passionate for his wife and children, and shows it sincerely. Stands by what he says, even if he is wrong.

Kerry: Brushed off his wife to talk about his mom, not to diss my mom, but, whenever asked about your WIFE, talk about your WIFE. His answers change constantly...flip-flop (And we're not talking about the shoes) city.

Just my opinion, or, if you want, join my opinion...

VOTE FOR ELROND 2004.

Nope, a "Liberal" accent causes that *sniggers*

Did you "catch" Bush telling off the Brits (our allies!!!) for making poison vaccines then telling everyone we're going to import vaccines from Canada--even though he's told our seniors that the can't get prescription drugs from Canada because they might be poison?
Oh yeah, turns out Canada (who are also our allies last time I checked) didn't know anything about that and don't have enough for themselves, let alone us.)

Yes, I did... and I'd agree with bashing anyone who allowed bad vaccines on the market. If it had happened here, I would gleefully join in the FDA bashing (not that I don't bash the FDA on a regular basis, mind. Them, and the USDA. It's a miracle we all don't die of food poisoning or somesuch disaster). I did think it was odd that he was so interested in getting vaccines from Canada, after his whole "We must protect the public!" speech in the second debate. Very odd. It's one of the reasons I'm not so enthusiastic about voting for Bush either. He just... says things, and he doesn't think them through.

*snarl/mutter* I want Kerry's wife for president. She seems more level-headed. But of course, that'll never happen.

Actually that's not a half bad idea. Maybe she can chip in and reduce the Bush deficit. You know there's a reason he "glossed over" her and talked about his mom instead. She's already being cast in a "Devil Woman" light ala Hillary by The Other Side and one can just imagine what sort of "ammunition" he'd have provided them if he'd talked about her at all.
Those people, Rove and co, are absolute monsters.

Much more sensible than voting "advice" that comes from people who declare accents "liberal".

I know that. I see that you're honestly trying to find a source of real information. You're in a minority. Too many people, (and you see an example here--if this is an example of our future voters, we're all screwed) are happy to stick with the spin and rhetoric and go with that. Neither candidate is likely to line up with your beliefs 100%.
If you visit the candidates' websites, read what they say about their own platforms and skip the propoganda about the other side. Read Bush on Bush and Kerry on Kerry. If you feel aligned with a certain special interest, look up what they have to say about each candidate--this is what's so handy about vote-smart.org.
I'll freely admit that there are things I don't like about Kerry . But there are far more things I despise about the Bush administration. I didn't like them going in and they've had four years to win me over. They've only succeeded in making me hate them even more.
