I just saw "Master and Commander"... LotR has stiff competition. That movie was absolutely fantastic.

First: The characters were spot-on. The doctor was brilliant. I could definitely feel his disgust at wanton bloodlust and his fervor for natural science. Even his... erm... less than honest dealings were alluded to, if not directly used. As for Captain 'Lucky' Jack Aubrey... *whistles* I was really worried that Crowe wouldn't be able to pull it off. He did, with room to spare. He was... perfect.
And the sea battles! Makes one wonder how anyone survived! I thought Aubrey's goose was cooked within the first five minutes. I mean, if he hadn't looked back... yeeps. I spent half the movie going "Ohdangohdangohdangoh Look Out!"
The kid really stole the show. The one that had his arm amputated? During that last battle my jaw was hanging open. The kid was what, ten? Twelve maybe? The thing is, that sort of stuff happened in real life. Kids were pressed into service, even offered by their families to "make men of them" like it was some sort of day camp. That kid had a lot of pluck though, besides being unbearably cute. *steals cute one-armed kid*
Add another laurel wreath to Billy Boyd's collection - his performance as helmsman was great! The only thing wrong was my fault - I kept expecting him to get up and dance to some Shire tune when the crew was celebrating.
*snickers* Lesser of two whevils. *sporfle*

I do feel that there is going to be a call for a new section of the Mary Sue Department at PPC Headquarters. I think the sues are going to start invading the HMS Surprise. These foul brigands must be repelled - who's with me? *branishes sword*

Hate to spoil your swash-buckling mood there, Captain, but there probably won't be a whole ton of Mary Sues in the M&C division. The movie didn't have Orlando Bloom or Elijah Wood in it, after all...

But you can bet that there will be some Sues. There always are.

*attempts to scare off stray muse* You might have a volunteer right here. No guarantees on anything, however, she hasn't had any shots or a psychiatric evaluation yet...

Mrr. I have an urge to write something, I just don't know what.

And no, not that Aragorn fic. No, I haven't forgotten about it. :P

Yes Aragorn fic!

*gets demand-y*

You forget, it has Russel Crowe and Billy Boyd. Plenty of sue-bait.

Yeesss...not as much as the ever-alluring elven prince, but not bad at all. I say so, anyway, which dosen't necessarily mean that the thousands of squealing thirteen year olds would say the same.

Aragorn fic will come soon, promise. You can't really do much with a muse who refuses to neogotiate, you know that.

Well, looks like we might be taking on this M&C business, eh? Would this be a bad time to mention I get sea-sick? Hehe, joking, joking.
