Packishness
Apr. 22nd, 2004 09:30 pmWell, got a bit of confirmation of sorts, I suppose. I've always felt that I've been kinda on the outskirts of the PPC. Some people know who I am, and an even fewer number have actually talked to me beyond the "Hi there"... but I'm not popular. I suppose a good deal of that is my fault, since I only post where I think I can make a contribution to the conversation, and I tend to miss introductory posts.
Now it's not that I don't agree with Bjam. I do, wholeheartedly. In fact, I said something similar a few months back. But when I complained about the state of the board, I was told I was way off-base. *shrugs* Maybe I'm just not as clear in my writing, or maybe because I don't post as often as some. I'll take my place as a gamma PPCer.
Annnnnyway, enough whining from me.
Work today was interesting. Our relief vet, Dr. Thompson, was running the hospital today... and she was ticked off. Someone in upper managment told her that "They feel that she is too overwhelmed, and should not take any more cats to rescue". This absolutely wonderful vet takes our sickest, most beat up, saddest of sad cases, patches them up at her own clinic, and adopts them out to good homes. She is absolutely brilliant with cats. I have now sworn to take my own cat to her instead of the local chain-practice vet. And she _loves_ her rescue work. She couldn't believe that someone else, who barely knew her, would make a decision about how stressed she was. She was crying over this one black cat that was an owner surrender. Reason for surrender? Hit by car. No joke. Poor kitten had a messed up rear right leg, and would only let Dr. Thompson pet him (because cats just seem to trust her), and they wouldn't let her take him. *rolls eyes at managment* When I left the doc was heading towards a meeting with managment to set a few things straight. I hope she won, because she is a Godsend.
